Meeting with NATO Secretary General

Prime Minister Thaçi met today NATO Secretary General, Mr. Anders Fogh Rasmussen, with whom political and security in Kosovo and the region was discussed.

Secretary General Rasmussen assessed the security situation in Kosovo as stable and acknowledged achieved progress in this field. Improvements in the security situations, stressed NATO Secretary General, have made possible gradual reduction of KFOR presence in Kosovo.

Prime Minister Thaçi praised the role of NATO in Kosovo and expressed pleasure with excellent cooperation between KFOR and Kosovo institutions. “We remain committed to preserve and strengthen more our cooperation”, added Prime Minister Thaçi.

Kosovo has achieved vivid progress in creation and consolidation of security institutions, which in turn allows KFOR to continue with transfer of competencies in the field of security, protection of monuments and of the borders, concluded Secretary General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
