Deputy Prime Minister Thaçi invites German businessmen to invest in Kosovo

Berlin, 27 November 2015 – First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, continued with the official agenda in the German capital - Berlin. He took part today in the German-Kosovar Economic Forum in Berlin.

In the forum it was discussed about the possibility of German investments in Kosovo and about the increase of the trade between the two countries. The German-Kosovar Economic Forum in Berlin is organized by German-Kosovar Association for Economic Cooperation and by the Chamber of Commerce of Kosovo.

 Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Thaçi spoke in front of many German and Kosovo businessmen and stated that there is a great potential for increasing the economic cooperation between our two countries.
"Kosovo, as a new state in Europe is a place of new opportunities, especially for serious investors who increasingly are more present in our market," stated Mr. Thaçi.
 At the opening of the proceedings of this forum, regarding the position of Kosovo and the support that must enjoy by Germany, spoke the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Gerd Muller.
The German minister spoke about peace and stability which according to him are the preconditions for any economic development. He spoke about various aspects of development in Kosovo, focusing on the younger population, under 25, where a large number of them are unemployed and need to get an education in professional fields.
Mr. Muller stated that a condition for Kosovo's economic development is the stability of energy. "Serious investors in order to come to Kosovo need also to increase the efficiency of administration, which implies the creation of facilities in procedures, non-delay and more effective functioning of the law", stated Minister Muller.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of the German-Kosovar Association, Friedbert Pflüger, recalling how 15 years ago he only visited the German KFOR soldiers, stated that now there are being conducted business visits and we have concrete results of economic cooperation between Germany and Kosovo.
Also present at the forum was the Parliamentary Secretary of State and Federal Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Anette Kramme, who spoke about new ways that German policy is pursuing regarding the immigrants from the Balkans.
Otherwise, in this forum, together with the Deputy Prime Minister Thaçi were also present the Minister of Economic Development, Blerand Stavileci, Minister of Agriculture, Memli Krasniqi and Minister of Trade and Industry, Hykmete Bajrami.
