Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on the appointment of Beqë Cufaj as Ambassador of Kosovo to GermanyMost renowned German newspaper “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ)” informed in its Sunday edition of appointment of Beqë Cufaj as Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Germany.
“The writer, Beqë Cufaj, will be Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Berlin. Cufaj, who used to live in Stuttgart in the past (“Last Exit Degerloch” is the title of a theatre piece authored by him), became famous since 1999 with his remarkable essays written during and after the war in Kosovo for “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”, “Sueddeutsche Zeitung” and “Neue Zuercher Zeitung”. Later on, he reported from the Hague Tribunal on War Crimes for the process against Slobodan Milosevic”, reports this newspaper.
Moreover, FAZ of Sunday edition informs that Beqë Cufaj has been proposed for Ambassador by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj. During the war in Kosovo, Haradinaj was one of the Commanders of guerrilla forces of the Kosovo Liberation Army and likewise he had to appear before the Hague Tribunal, but he was acquitted of all charges. “I have seen myself as Ambassador from the position of the writer” states the 47-year-old who has published two novels, namely “Shkëlqimi i Huaj” and “projekt@party”, in Germany.
“Recently, he has worked in a novel which, as Cufaj states, is about the issue of refugees. However, this book has to wait now,” reports Franfkurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
