Lendita HaxhitasimiAmbassador of the Republic of Kosovo in Italy
H.E. Ms. Lendita Haxhitasim, graduated in Political Science at the University of Calabria in 2006, where she subsequently also obtained a master's degree in International Relations. In 2009 she joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs when she was selected among a core group of diplomats tasked with establishing and consolidating the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Kosovo.
On that occasion, she was appointed to the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in the Kingdom of Belgium, where she dealt with a number of key areas related to the work of European institutions in Brussels.
In 2014 she was entrusted with the delicate role of the Liaison Officer with the United Nations at the Consulate General of Kosovo in New York.
In November 2015 she was appointed to the Kosovo Embassy in Washington D.C., where she carried out her main activities in close collaboration with the State Department and the National Security Council. In 2018 she returned to Pristina and was assigned to the Department for Europe and the EU, where she also acted as Director of the Department.
After completing her studies in Italy, she was awarded the Schumann scholarship for an internship at the DG EXPO of the European Parliament in Brussels, where she worked with the Secretariat of the Delegation on relations with the countries of South-Eastern Europe.
Her main experiences before joining the Kosovo Foreign Service were those of an adviser to the Kosovo Minister of Internal Affairs, employed by the UNDP to support the development of security institutions in Kosovo. She has also previously collaborated with various NGOs such as the Kosovo Civil Society Foundation. Immediately after the 1999 war, she worked in the communication sector with KFOR-NATO's military mission in Kosovo.
Since 5 December 2019 she is accredited as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kosovo in Italy.
