Kosovo Assembly President HE Mr Veseli visits TokyoTokyo, 13-15 March 2019 - On the occasions of the 10th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Kosovo and Japan and the 11th Anniversary of the Declaration of the Independence of Kosovo, the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo HE Mr Kadri Veseli paid a working visit to Tokyo.
During his stay in Japan, HE Mr Veseli’s counterpart, HE Mr Oshima Tadamori - Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan received him in the first meeting. Assembly President Mr Veseli paid courtesy calls on HE Mr Taro Kono - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan and Mr Wakamiya Kenji - Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs at the House of Representatives of Japan, held a working luncheon with some ambassadors accredited in Tokyo from the countries of the Pacific, and a working dinner with the members of the Kosovo-Japan Friendship League in the House of Representatives of Japan.
This visit of Mr Veseli in Tokyo, besides serving to show good relations between the two states, it was also a fruitful visit to opening up new channels of communication with Japan’s institutions. In Kosovo’s modern history, this was the first ever meeting between the two heads of the respective parliaments.
Meeting with the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Mr Seko was a good opportunity for Mr Veseli to present the achievements as well as the political and economic situation of Kosovo. On this occasion, Mr Veseli, through Minister Seko, has invited the Japanese businesses and industries to invest in Kosovo.
During this visit in Tokyo, two Japanese media have interviewed Mr Veseli.
On the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations with Japan and on the occasion of the visit of the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Tokyo organised a reception where HE Mr Veseli held a speech alongside with Ambassador Malazogu, Chairman of the Kosovo-Japan Friendship League in the House of Representatives of Japan Mr Shionoya, Assistant Foreign Minister Saito who is at the same time Ambassador in charge of the Balkans, former-Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations Ambassador Okamura as well as alongside the former Ambassador of Japan to Kosovo Mr Taketoshi.
