Registration of birth
Upon receipt of the request form for registration of a birth in the civil register of births in Kosovo the following are required for these options:
When the child is born outside Kosovo by parents who are Kosovo citizens;
1. Copies of citizenship documents of the two parents, either Kosovo passport or identification card, birth certificate of Kosovo, or certificate of Kosovo citizenship;
2. A copy of the birth certificate of the child signed by two parents;
3. Presence of the two parents or legal proof of the absence of one of them.
When the child is born outside Kosovo by parents of which one is a Kosovo citizen whilst the other not;
1. A copy of the document of Kosovar citizenship of the parent;
2. Documents proving citizenship of the non-Kosovar parent;
3. Authorized approval in writing by the non-Kosovar parent for the child’s registration by the responsible authorities;
4. A copy of the birth certificate of the child signed by two parents;
5. Presence of the two parents or legal proof of the absence of one of them.
When the child is born outside Kosovo by parents of which one is a Kosovo citizen whilst the other is unknown;
1. A copy of the document of Kosovar citizenship of the parent;
2. A copy of the birth certificate of the child that includes the Kosovo citizen as a parent and the other as “unknown”;
