Japanese Tourist Agencies Visit Kosovo to Enrich Their Offer in Japan

Prishtina, 17 July 2018 – The Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Tokyo is for the first time organising a familiarisation trip of Japanese travel agencies and tour operators to Kosovo and Albania from 18 to 23 July 2018.

The purpose of the visit by these 8 prestigious Japanese operators is to see touristic attractions, inspect accommodation offers, hotel and transport services, and to get familiar with cultural-artistic activities and events organised in Kosovo with the aim of enriching the offers of their existing products as well as providing new packages to the Japanese market. The Japanese travel agencies and tour operators will also have the opportunity to meet with the Kosovan companies, hoping to establish cooperation, during the B2B Forum (business to business), wherein cooperation bridges are built between them and the Kosovo tourist agencies.

Kosovo as a new state is known little or it is completely unknown to the Japanese. Therefore, the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo to Tokyo set tourism on the top of its priorities, aiming through the increase of the number of tourists to improve the image of the country as a prerequisite for attracting investors.

It should be highlighted that the number of Japanese tourists to Kosovo has been increased in the past years. The Embassy has organised a number of activities that served for the Kosovo image to Japan, such as participation in fairs, exhibitions, interviews, school presentations, direct meetings with tourist agencies, or through membership to the Japanese Outbound Tourism Council.

This familiarisation visit is being organised in cooperation with the Japanese Association of Tourist Agencies (JATA) and the Embassy of the Republic of Albania to Tokyo, supported by Turkish Airlines in Tokyo, Swisscontact in Prishtina and the National Tourism Agency in Tirana.
