“Let’s Travel to Kosovo Online!” Event Was HeldTokyo, 6 February 2021 – On the occasion of the 13th Anniversary of Independence, Minato International Association – MIA together with the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Japan and “Friends of Kosovo” Japan-Kosovo Friendship Association, organised an online event titled “Let’s Travel to Kosovo Online”. The aim of the event was to present to the Japanese audience touristic attractions of Kosovo virtually, so that the Japanese people increase their interest to travel to Kosovo after the pandemic situation gets better.
Secretary General of MIA Mr. Yuzuru Kokado thanked the participants for their attendance as well as the Embassy for the collaboration in organisation of this event.
First, Chargé d'Affaires Enis Xhemaili, after thanking the organisers of this event, briefly presented general information about Kosovo such as demographics, geo-strategic location, meaning of the flag, bilateral relations with Japan, JICA’s activities in Kosovo, activities of NGOs related to Kosovo-Japan relations, infrastructure, Kosovo-EU relations, sports, culture, music and a few pictures from beautiful sights in Kosovo. Later, two videos were played to the audience, one of KIESA presenting Kosovo as a Travel Destination, and the other of Kosovo MFAD presenting different attractions, both with Japanese simultaneous interpretation. Later, different artefacts including ethnic clothing exhibited in the Embassy were displayed to the participants.
Ms. Yumi Yasuda representative of “Friends of Kosovo” Japan-Kosovo Friendship Association also delivered a presentation about her experience while living in Kosovo (5 years), showing pictures of different Kosovo towns, delicious dishes and beautiful cultural heritage sights. She praised the people for their friendliness especially towards the Japanese.
Thirty-five participants, mostly citizens of Minato Ward in Tokyo, members of the MIA association attended the event. They also asked questions about CDA Enis Xhemaili’s favourite Japanese and Kosovar dishes, about the number of Kosovars living in Japan, his experience in Japan, and so on.
All the speakers wished good health, peace and prosperity for the people and institutions of the Republic of Kosovo on this occasion.
