Arbër Mehmeti, Chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Japan met Mr. Isao Iijima, Special Adviser to Prime Minister Suga.Tokyo, 2 March 2021 - It is always a pleasure and an honor to meet Kosovo friends in Japan. In the picture is Mr. Isao Iijima former Honorary Consul General of Kosovo in Japan. On the proposal of the First Ambassador of Kosovo to Japan, in February 2013, Mr. Iisao Iijima was appointed Honorary Consul General of Kosovo in Japan, and he held this commitment until November 2020. During this time, Mr. Iijima has visited Kosovo three times and his contribution and support to the institutions and citizens of Kosovo has been continuous and concrete. He has made it possible for Kosovo to benefit from many donations, grants, and various projects from Japanese institutions. The support of Mr. Iijima is also recognized by the institutions of Kosovo, former President Thaçi awarded him two presidential awards: "Honorary Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo" and Presidential Medal "St. Mother Teresa" for promoting and affirming the interests of the Republic of Kosovo in Japan, respectively for his contribution in the field of humanity and peace in Kosovo.
During his long political career of over 45 years, Mr. Isao Iijima is the longest-serving adviser to Japan's Prime Minister, having held the post from 2012 as special adviser to former Prime Minister ABE Shinzo, and he still holds the same position for the new Prime Minister SUGA Yoshihide, who was appointed in September 2020. Together with his permanent engagements in the Japanese government, Mr. Isao Iijima continues to be a friend and supporter of Kosovo.
