The visit in Japan of the First Deputy-Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Behgjet Pacolli, as well as the Economic Development Minister Mr. Valdrin Lluka concludesTokyo, 2 March 2018 - Mr. Pacolli and Mr. Lluka concluded their two-day visit in Japan. Accompanied by Ambassador Malazogu, Mr. Pacolli and Mr. Lluka met with the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Mr. Hiroshige Seko, minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Taro Kono, State Minister of Finance Mr. Kenichiro Ueno, Senior Vice-President of JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) Mr. Kazuhiko Koshikawa, the Executive President of JBIC (Japan Bank for International Cooperation) Mr. Tadashi Maeda, as well as other institutions and senior officials. During the visit, Mr. Pacolli and Mr Lluka were also interviewed by a number of Japanese media outlets.
The aim of the visit was the encouragement of the Japanese businesses to invest in Kosovo, elicit Japan’s state support for the private sector which invests in Kosovo, hold bilateral consultations with Japan on foreign affairs and overall boost the support for Kosovo. As a result of the visit, Japan has decided to issue visas for Kosovars in Tirana, so from now on Kosovars need not travel to Vienna for this purpose. JICA will send a study mission to see the possibilities of increasing the assistance as well as soft loans for big projects as well as the opening of a new scheme to support small and medium businesses. The Kosovo delegation also insisted that Japan open an Embassy in Kosovo, to support bringing a business delegation from Japan to Kosovo as well as other topics of bilateral interest.
